nest boxes

Post by millipede » Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:49 am

Yesterday I decided to throw a couple of nest boxes together. I had some plywood laying around so that's what I used. I basically started with the bottom being 16" x 16". The sides I cut 16" x 14" so it would slope down. I cut the back 17 1/2" x 16" and the top I cut 17 1/2" x 18". Then a small strip in the front to hold the hay in, hopefully.
I moved a few birds around yesterday and hopefully they will use these. They lay wherever it feels comfortable, but they also have a loft with some hay in it, so I'll have to check for eggs there as well.
I nailed the boxes onto a 4"x4" in the pen.
I'll get some pictures later today when I go feed everyone and check for eggs.
